I should probably stop talking out loud to myself at work

Friday was a really slow day at work. I was 1 of 2 people in the habilitation department there that day. Everyone else was off for the 4th of July. There were a couple of people that I needed to watch eat and evaluate over at the Martin unit. I walked over but people were getting tube fed and there wasn't anything for me to do right then, so I walked back to office. I kind of have this habit of talking to myself and getting lost in my thoughts. As I walked I must have been in that place because all of the sudden I heard one of the residents call out to me, "hey are you okay?"

I turned to see an old white haired man, waving at me. He asked again if I was ok. "Yes, thank you!" What does that mean when the intellectually challenged and mentally ill begin to ask you if you are ok when they catch you talking to yourself?

  1. Ha! What do they say, "I talk to myself so I can have some intelligent conversation."
